I'm Awesome
Your calculating that Bucks would charge $617 for the parts you need? That would surprise me! Not having to pull the engine in the junkyard would appeal to me! It’s a hassle!

Yes sir, took the numbers right off their website.Your calculating that Bucks would charge $617 for the parts you need? That would surprise me! Not having to pull the engine in the junkyard would appeal to me! It’s a hassle!
Your absolutely correct. I haven't seen the engine in person yet so I didn't know exactly what's up with it, and what's all missing. My preference is to do a complete pull out. That way all the nicknacks are there and accounted for. I just don't have the room or the funds to buy a complete vehicle to have it parked to pull stuff out of unfortunately. One thing you haven't considered is all the bolts your gonna need, plus the cylinder head steam lines and whatever sensors that are missing. Looks like the intake has been removed, so are the knock sensors/harness there? How about the injectors and fuel rail? Alt./pwr stg. bracket? How about the idler and serp belt tensioner? Ka-ching, Ka-ching... Are you gonna go hi or low with the a/c mounting? More bracketry! At least, pull the valve covers and see what kind of yukk is under 'em. Sometimes that pot of gold is really a pile of poo. It may be worthwhile to actually just redo your engine during your winter season. Not trying to be a downer. To me, going into something that's only partially complete and unknown isn't really cost effective. In my experience, it may cost a little bit more on the front end, to get something that's complete, but will save you both time AND money in the long run
Don't do it man. I can't say anything about bolting it to your 700R4 but after you buy a harness and buying whatever else you need to make it fit your truck you will have to pay for tunes even if your tuning yourself. You can thump the motor you have for the same money and tune it basically for free.So I poked at my buddy a bit about either the 6.0 from his truck or 454 from his van. Told him to "help me, help you to help me" lol.
Took him a few hours, typical, but shot back at me with this.
You must be registered for see images attach
"6.0, no flex plate, what you see is what you get, $700"
I asked a few questions like year, who's was it etc. Haven't gotten a response yet. Didn't think you ask if it's a Lq4 or Lq9, not that that really matters toooooooooo much to me.
From what I can see, obviously no harness, coil.packs, throttle body, ECM or accessory drive.
I see them listed on Facebook for $1500 min and up. But those are usually pretty complete. Sure I'll have to hit a yard for the rest of it, plus a transmission. Although my buddy has offered his 4L60e up for basically nothing.
But the one offering this up also has a TBI 454/4L80 combo sitting in a van. Maybe I can con him out of that as well! Lol
I'm almost thinking this is as close to "falling in my lap" as it's gonna get! Lol
Thoughts or concerns???
I wouldn't even attempt to run a 700r4 behind a 6.0....im crazy, not insane!!! LolDon't do it man. I can't say anything about bolting it to your 700R4 but after you buy a harness and buying whatever else you need to make it fit your truck you will have to pay for tunes even if your tuning yourself. Ya....Sean is a dangerous person to know!!!Y'all got me seriously thinking about a 6.0/4L80 swap now... Found out I have a friend in our local Buick group, that the LS swap motors and trans are his business. This could be really dangerous!
I'll be keeping an eye on your thread to see what/how you end up going about this. I'm sure Sean is an excellent resource to have near by too!
Ask them if you can commit to a particular engine and transmission, pay for it and then I can pull it out on my days off? I can be available next Thursday, Friday or Monday. A week away from now. In fact I plan to be there Thurs or Friday to get the rear axle parts I need for the Yukon as well as one “hood bolt”. My only stipulation would be that you remove the wiring and computer ahead of time so that I don’t need to spend an hour or two dicking around with that. So, went down to the pick n pull yard down the road from work.
Had about 20 trucks there with LS's. Mostly 5.3's obviously, but two Denalis with 6.0's. one has been there for a month, the other a few weeks. Sweet, should last a few more days one would think!!!
They were both 4x4, as were all the trucks I saw, not a shocker actually.
Whatever, I'll pull what I'm gonna assume is a 4l80 with it, and sell or trade it.
Get ahold of my buddy while I'm walking out to somewhat firm up plans, depending on if my boss will cover the weekend.
Stop at the office on the way out, to clarify what's all included in the $350 for a "complete motor". Basically manifolds in, intake to oil pan.
Cool, what about the wiring and ECM? Yup.
Same with the transmission she said. Hell yeah.
"You have something to pull them out and load it in the truck."
" Oh ya, they work 8:00 till 3:00 Monday to Friday, no weekend or statutory holidays"...........WTF!!!!!
Seriously!!!!!! WHAT THE ****?????????
So.....I would have to take a day off of work in order to pull a motor there. Like hell that's happening!!!! Lol
And they don't allow engine hoists onsite, understandably. I am absolutely gobsmacked right now. Like what kinda business plan is this???? Unreal. I just wanna give them money!!!
