Yes i have the 98 Chevy with a 5-speed manual 4.3 V6 in it and memory issues with manual transmission is not wanting to go into second gear and I'm wearing what's the best next upgrade is easy to go from an a stick to an automatic and how hard would that be and what would that entail

Perhaps a moderator will move this thread from ENGINE to TRANSMISSION.

Same advice as before.
Two step, simple, easy process:

1. Sell California-legal V-6/manual truck

2. Buy California-legal V-8/automatic truck.

Even if you weren't in Commiefornia, there's nothing you can do to a V-6 that will make adequate power without spending so much money as to be impractical. But trying to make more power with the V-6 AND stay Libtarrd-emissions compliant is hopeless.

Ignore the part about California. The post that was quoted was about making power.

But, being in California you will have to do things to the truck during the swap that may likely be illegal in California.

So, the advice still stands. Sell your 5-speed truck and buy a similar Automatic truck.
You will be money ahead and have a factory converted truck instead of a handicapped home-built swap done by someone that doesn't grasp everything that goes into a fully integrated swap.

I hate to tell you this, but these trucks are old. Unless you find a well-preserved example and you're a handy mechanic, they aren't reliable daily drivers.

Many years ago I rebuilt the 5-speed in my RX-7, and got a tiny chip of metal in the 3-4 shift fork. For three months I drive it, shifting 1-2-5 until I was able to pull the transmission back out and fix it. It will be easier to dive into the transmission and fix it than to do an automatic swap.
