Haven’t had much time to work on the truck but dove into replacing all the ac stuff this past week. Have to say I was surprised. This is the first obs Chevy I have managed to get the liquid line and accumulator loose without destroying the fittings on the evaporator core. The dissimilar metal fittings are notorious for welding themselves together.

If anyone wants to know, pre soaked all the fittings with 50/50 acetone and atf the night before as well as right before cracking them loose and they all managed to bust free.

Ready to have working ac, it’s hot down here in the south.

I've been soaking mine down with kroil every time either truck sits for a period of time. Hopefully I won't trash either one when it comes time to replace the components.

I just got to work fixing the AC in my 6.5, the last few days in the 90s have really made me realize how sucky it is to drive with all 4 windows down and still drip sweat. I wish I had the money to replace everything but I'll just throw in a couple cans of refrigerant to start with.

Oh yea definitely gotta have that ac as humid as it is here!

Even if you do gall them up I’m here to tell you that it is possible to change the evaporator core without pulling the dash…. Because I did it in the gmc haha. But hopefully it dosent come to that

Polished up a junkyard bumper slapped some Chinese parts on it witha new Amazon grille and headlights. By golly she looks quite a bit better. Installed some led headlight bulbs while I was there because I’m blind and need all the light. Faded paint still sticks out like a sore thumb….

Curious as to what some of yall think.

I’m still debating as whether to color match the flatbed to the truck with bedliner top and accents or to just spray it gloss black with the same bedliner accents.

Have to say I’m leaning to the color match it’s just so much more work.
