I’m using a screw and wire to adjust my idle without messing with the computer
If you are talking about the actual idle set screw and it's aTBI that's a big no-no. If you are tying the throttle open to keep it running, you should quit driving it until you get it figured out (I understand if it a daily). If it's TBI I'd bet money on one of the 2 injectors failing

Or the pressure regulator, which is just a small diaphragm in the throttle body, but a new one is included in a rebuild kit. Let me know if it is TBI or not, if it is. I have a GM service manual and can send troubleshooting info

If you have a better flowing TBI engine (not stock), you'll want to adjust the Minimum Idle screw or your IAC will be way out of spec. You'll want a scanner so you can watch IAC steps as you adjust the screw until you get it close to 10 (up to ~40 is OK) with fully warmed up engine and no accessories running. Then reset your TPS by pulling the negative battery cable so, it goes back to 0%. HTH

Oh shoot... your right, thats my bad. It's been so long since I've done anything other than fixing a daily for someone I immediately go to factory/service specs in my head lol

I don’t really have another option other than using some string to keep it running since it’s my only running daily… I have another car- it’s out of service and am in the process of selling it rn. For now ill just limp it until after my college semester is over

LIke I said, I understand if it's a daily, but when you get a minute, pull off the air filter and take pictures of what throttle body you have. There should be a code stamped into it on the front be sure to get that too

Can do. I will run the #s. First I will check the injectors to verify that they are both still good. Was advised that could very well be the issue.

There's an oil pressure port right above the oil filter, or you can tee off the oil pressure port behind the distributor.

For the temp, you want to be as near the thermostat as possible, but on the engine side, not the radiator side. The TBI thermostat housing had tapped threads, that makes it easy.
