Had to take a pause on the gas lines since I snapped off a bolt on the intake that happens to be directly below the gas feed line. No sense in filling it with gas to just disconnect it. While I wait to steal my dad's easy-out and soak the bolt with oil, I moved back to rust repair. Cut out the last of the major rust on the cab and welded in the backing plate for the cab corner. Spent some time today cleaning surface rust above the inner cab corner. Hoping to weld in the inner cab corner tomorrow, but I have to get my place ready for a party Thursday. Got to have a clean atmosphere for getting properly drunk on Independence Day after all. Here's a couple of pics...

Well not a whole lot of progress unfortunately. The inner cab corner fitting has been going slow, when I find the time to work on it. I started to weld it on today, but the fitment is not great so I'm taking my time between welds to get it to butt up to the orginal metal as much as possible. I won't be able to work on it until Sunday now, after my office job tomorrow I work ambulance overnight, and then Saturday afternoon I'm going to golf 18 and get drunk. As always, priorities haha. I also just started a new part-time EMS job providing medical standby at sporting events/concerts/other large gatherings. I think this job will replace my ambulance job, but for now I'm doing both. More truck money I suppose. Also, if I don't get this truck on the road by fall, I'm buying another GMT 400 for the winter. I miss driving these trucks.

Well, no major updates on this thing, working on it here and there when time is available. I've got the rear portion of the frame pretty well cleaned up, just applying a rust reformer to get the stubborn rust pits supposedly neutralized of rust. In the meantime, here's a pic I took while working my part time job this summer. A local fire department is still rocking a 2500 Suburban. My ride that day was the ambulance. The ambulance is a 2022 I think. It's an E450 with Ford's 7.3 gas engine. For being a pretty new engine, those things are LOUD. The engine shakes the whole truck quite a bit
Oh also as an update to this post, another fire department I work with in this area has three 400's they use, two pickups and 1 suburban. If I get to that station tomorrow night when I work I can take some pics. All are in great shape.

Hows it going so far?
Slow, but some progress. Almost done welding up the cab, just need to do the rocker (already fitted, just needs to be welded), outer cab corner, and one little hole in the floor. I've got a decent amount of pics from over the last month, but I figured I would wait to post anything until I have some decent progress. Maybe I'll post something up at the end of the week. Thanks for checking.

Quick status update with some pics. Since I last posted I've got a few things done. In late July I removed the driver's side outer and inner fenders. Started to patch the inner and determined that would be a PITA, so I just bought new. All the bolt holes minus one were there. Also painted the inner fender gloss black to contrast what will be a flat black frame.

Lastly got the rocker fitted and started welding it on last night. No pics, but I also had to remake part of the rocker backing panel at the front corner where the rocker and front fender bolt together. That took some work as I am no metal fabricator, but I got something made and welded in.
