As I've been saying for some time now, the seats in my truck aren't so great, but I've been thinking lately that maybe the seats themselves are okay, and the mounting hardware is the problem.

However, since one of the four tabs on the driver's side is broken, and it is structurally part of the seat itself, is it feasible to just repair it somehow, preferably without welding?

Weld it or replace it. Don't dork around with seat mounting.

A few years back my race team was heading towards our first outright win, leading about a eighty cars at MSR-Houston. An hour from the end of the race, our driver reported that the floorboard had torn and the seat was wobbling. We parked the car and ended up finishing seventh or so. Don't tempt fate.

Hmm, OK. Safety is important!

I think I can save the passenger seat (just the rails need to be replaced, I think), but I guess I'll have to figure out how to either weld the driver's seat's broken tab carefully without setting it on fire, or find another seat whose tabs are undamaged.
