I just gotta ask. When this truck is 100% back together and running around, what are you going to do to keep it so clean? And what possesses a man/woman to execute such meticulous work? Not bashing by any means, I’m just genuinely curious. My 2014 isn’t even that clean and they had a $1000 detail done on it before I bought it!

I'm a perfectionist by nature. Always have been. I see no sense in taking a vehicle down to its frame and NOT replacing/rebuilding/refinishing everything. The truck won't be my daily driver (and it will never see mud, snow, etc.), so I expect the chassis will generally stay clean. I'll probably occasionally clean the chassis with detailing spray, but nothing beyond that.

Added 2 oz. of refrigerant oil to the compressor and installed (finally!) the air conditioning lines. I also installed all but the master cylinder brake lines (I'm dreading bleeding the brakes soon). Finally, I removed the bed and installed the wiring for the sending unit/fuel pump.

Because of the potential PIA of removing air from ABS? I’m concerned about spilled brake fluid! ;)
Yes. :frown:

My brother was a GM technician for 15+ years. He now owns and operates an independent repair shop. He said he bled the ABS module on a 1997 K1500 the other day by making panic stops (apparently, his $10,000+ Snap-On scanner wasn't capable of doing the job). Maybe I'll get lucky.

1998’s seem to be more scan tool friendly.

Yesterday I installed a Borgeson steering shaft (In case anyone is interested, I'll be listing my Cunningham Machine upper and lower steering shafts for sale). I also vacuum tested and filled the cooling system using OEM Tools 24444. The cooling system held steady at -24 for several minutes, so I proceeded to fill it. Sure enough, the Genuine GM/AC Delco radiator began leaking near the bottom of the passenger side tank.
