I have a 95 GMC Sierra C1500 with the 305 5.0 V8. I am learning but have a long way to go. I love this truck and have had it since shortly after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 so probably bought it in early 2006. I was going to get a newer used truck and the garage I take it to told me that I should keep it, it may have miles on it but they had replaced many items that you might expect to wear out and it ran like a champ. After looking at the price of used trucks I am glad that I kept it and it has been a really good one for years, not many trips to the shop at all and I have replaced things like lights, breaks and taillights, door hinge pins and roller pins etc., I have an issue now of it running rich and it will die periodically. Two injectors are streaming gas instead of a spray. I have been told I need to replace the injectors and get a throttle body rebuild kit. The mechanic that always worked on it has left the garage and I took it to the garage I have always used. They tell me parts and labor about $850, does this sound reasonable? appreciate any responses.

You can shop around for new injectors. Try for US built if possible. Check the IAC for wear. Replaced the O2 sensor lately. Single wire NTK 21002 , quality brand. I use on my 95 K2500.

You can grab a rebuild kit at O’parts for $40. If you need a regulator spring, the silver spring (11-14lbs) is all you need.

Injectors, I’d use a mild cleaner and 9v battery to see if I could get them to spray better before I bought new. Not sure who carries them locally anymore.

I’m thinking of buying a cheap ultrasonic cleaner and try cleaning that way.

I live about 3 hrs from you, and can show you how to rebuild your TBI, but finding time to get together on my end (i work 65-70 hrs a week) is the problem.

Got a tbi unit at the house that I’m waiting on parts for. Will try to remember to get pictures when I rebuild it, but will try to answer any questions you might have.
