Trying to figure out what my rear axle is. This looked like the right thread. I have a 1988 C3500 with DRW and a 10 bolt cover.

Yeah, thinking it's for sure gonna be one of the Dana units. Find your cover on this pic:Dana 70?

The donor truck was still in the yard and I was able to lay eyes on it and the RPO sticker: "GT4," "G80" and "JB6." Yay! Unfortunately, the entire front suspension was missing, so I wasn't able to look at the brakes. I also forgot to ask about the U-bolt pads. One is present, but looks extremely crusty..
Someone here just went through that. If it's not terrible it could be repaired. I've lost track, is this a 9.5" 14 bolt SF you've found? If so, it's very likely worth repairing. If it's an 8.5" 10 bolt, ehhhh, tough call.Welp, that was a bust. Turns out one of the axle tubes has rotted right through where the U-bolt pad was. I've heard of that happening, have never seen it. There's a first time for everything I guess. Here's hoping that place will refund my dough..
