Stronger than the 14-bolt, but harder to find parts for. Same 8-lug bolt pattern.

Ok, thanks for the info. I was worried at first when I saw 10 bolts but I knew it wasn’t a 1/2 ton rear. Any recommendations on lube? I know it’s pre-synthetic but??

Donor axle aquired:

The donor truck was still in the yard and I was able to lay eyes on it and the RPO sticker: "GT4," "G80" and "JB6." Yay! Unfortunately, the entire front suspension was missing, so I wasn't able to look at the brakes. I also forgot to ask about the U-bolt pads. One is present, but looks extremely crusty..

Welp, that was a bust. Turns out one of the axle tubes has rotted right through where the U-bolt pad was. I've heard of that happening, have never seen it. There's a first time for everything I guess. Here's hoping that place will refund my dough..

Someone here just went through that. If it's not terrible it could be repaired. I've lost track, is this a 9.5" 14 bolt SF you've found? If so, it's very likely worth repairing. If it's an 8.5" 10 bolt, ehhhh, tough call.
