Really different from the older columns; it's just a switch in a box.. and from what I can tell, there's no difference for the switch in a tilt/non-tilt column.

But I wonder if it's a part quality issue. There's a range of brands out there.. you can spend $45 up to $132 for apparently the same application.

Maybe the part is defective? Maybe the column is damaged from a theft attempt so things don't fit right anymore? Some info on why all these parts were replaced might help.

I replaced these parts because of the original issue of my PRND indicator light staying on and killing the battery, I don’t have much free time these days so I took it to a shop and they said the ignition switch is likely bad, the old switch I took out looked to be original and perfect match to the new switch, but when I put the new switch in it didn’t fix the problem and I found out the key isn’t cycling the switch far enough. The only thing I can think of is the gears in the column need to be clocked one tooth over so the key actually cycles the switch far enough. But I don’t want to do that yet because I don’t see any reason why the ignition gears would be out 1 tooth.

PROBLEM SOLVED! so there was 2 issues causing the PRND light to stay on. One was the white plastic gears in the ignition housing were skipped 1 tooth causing the key to not cycle the ignition back far enough to shut it off, I have no clue how this could have happened, it didn’t look like anyone was ever in there. And the second issue was there is an adjustable black cable running to the back of the ignition housing and that just had to be adjusted so the tip of the cable wasn’t sticking so far into the housing. Thanks everyone for all of your help.
