While I daily a 6.5 and am putting another truck with a 6.5 back on the road. I don't mind the engine I would not swap one in. Would it be the easiest probably. Would it be a underwhelming experience when done yes. You can put a 12v Cummins in or a DMax but both need a lot of work to do. This is something you have to ask yourself. Do you really need a diesel and how deep are your pockets?

Your tranny can't handle the torque of a diesel. Your 10 bolt rear end won't like a diesel. Your transfer case will live for awhile but isn't up to a diesel. Your front differential will be right behind the tranny. Basically your truck will need everything upgraded.

First off that is just negativity. Second off that aint even help. And third of all why even message if you just gonna hate with negativity instead of actually helping with advice what a simpleton...

I already own one diesel. That's why i was asking if it's worth putting this k1500 into a diesel. And how expensive the transfer from gasser to diesel on this was. I was told a dmax or ls it if i wanted. But my main question how much is really going to be replaced, fixed and enduranced up in the long run meaning upgraded... and i dont need it i was just curious hence why i posted just for insights:)

I wouldn't say its negative. Why do you think when GM put the 6.5 in the half tons it was basically a 6 lug 2500. The 4l60e is not known for its ability to hold up to much of anything V6's will break them.. The 10 bolts are not known for great strength and have crappy brakes as well. Transfer case is questionable.

Just guessing I would say your looking at 10-15k and probably more doing it right. I don't know what engine your going to use or if it would be new or used. Then you have to change the cooling system, fuel system, exhaust. I would also update the trans. Like stated your 4l60e won't live long. If going with a used engine does it need any problems fixed? You say you want to upgrade. Upgrading cost more.
I don't know what all you would have to do as for mounting the engine. I'm sure there is someone out there that makes kits. You will have to do the research on that. All in all I would just get another gas engine and start upgrading from there. You would be a whole lot less into it with less headache in the long run.
