The wipers are running even with the wiper switch off, not consistently, sensitive to when I use the turn signal. The left signal sometimes stays on solid. The transmission won’t shift past 2nd gear. If I leave it in Drive, it’ll stay in second and when I left off the throttle the revs go down, but it’s still in second. If I shift it to 2, the revs stay high and engine brake.

I had installed some eBay LED parking/turn signal lights, and the problem started after going through a car wash. I just took the lights out and the problems persist. No codes.

I think I read something about it possibly being the ignition switch, and that the trans may not be receiving proper voltage. I don’t think it’s a trans failure, this all started suddenly.

I’m hoping those stupid lights didn’t somehow damage a pan electrical circuit board or something.

Aha, I wish something electrical was the problem on mine. I lost my 3-4 clutch pack by just one bolt coming out the transmission mount, and probably gotta wait a year to get another transmission. Urban rule is if there's no tranny codes to clear, you probably don't got gears.

Yeah I’ve come to the conclusion the 3-4 clutches are shot. I can smell it a bit and the shifting for 1 and 2 is getting worse and worse.

I’ll be swapping in a used trans in the near future.

Why would you have to wait a year to get another 4L60E? Most builders can turn those around in a few days and backlog usually isnt more than a couple weeks in most markets...

Going used is a major gamble with these units; you'll likely be back at square one six months or less later. Ive rebuilt countless "used" transmissions over the years...

Definitely a gamble. I got a good deal on it and it was supposedly rebuilt 15k miles ago.

I am thinking of keeping my original one and rebuilding it leisurely to have it ready as a spare. We’ll see where my decisions take me.

If you do decide you want to rebuild yours, you can refer to my 4L60E Information thread for details on how to go about it, what to look for on teardown and rebuild strategies. Id def rebuild it, if you're willing to do so and can set aside the time. You wont ever have to worry about depending on anyone else for that aspect of auto repair ever again.
