Have you downloaded the emissions and driveability manual for your truck? It'll have a bunch of useful info, including where the o2 sensor is intended to be from factory depending on your model. Apparently it varies quite a bit which is surprising to me. Pay attention to the series,engine code/rpo..etc..

Is there any possibility there could be a engine temp management issue? My coolant has dropped on the gauge a lot since I replaced the temp sensor on the side of the block.

No. The 1 wire sender in the driver side head is for the id10t light.
The 2 wire sensor by the water neck is for the gauge.

that's incorrect because replacing the sensor in the head is what fixed my gauge not working.
