Well decided this weekend is as good a weekend as any to clean up my rocker panels. I’m not aiming for perfection with these repairs, this is never going to be a “show truck”. In fact I’m likely to drive it into the overgrown forest roads and scuff it almost immediately. But that’s what the rubber coating is good for, haha.
That said, I do hope it’ll look a bit cleaner than it did before, and treat the rust spots for some time. Started by removing factory pinstripe since I didn’t like it. Then I taped a line, threw some plastic over the truck, lightly sanded the existing paint, sanding any loose rust scale and loose paint off. I used some POR15 rust converter on all rusty spots, and blasted it with some of the Rubberizer style rocker guard spray.
I Have a dent on right rear corner I’m going to attempt to pull tomorrow after I go get some dent puller tools from a buddy. Only dent on the truck. Have coated all of the rockers, and the step up bars, except for the corner needing the dent pulled. That same corner also needs a bit of bondo spot filler in a rust hole.. So we will see what tomorrow brings, and maybe I can get some finished pics posted before end of weekend.
