My 95 GMC 1500 2wd has a 10 bolt axle. I want to redo the rear drums and shoes but every catalog I look at has so many choices of sizes I don't know what is right for the truck!
I have a JB5 code in the glovebox. Why is it so hard to get the right parts?
This thing is a single cab with 8' bed. I also wanted to change the u-joints, but it has a fiber wrapped driveshaft and can't figure out what joints are the replacement pn's.

I can't take this thing apart until I have the parts because its my only transportation.
Any help or suggestions is moest welcome

1500 with JB5?

Your truck has the craptastic 254mm (10") leading/trailing shoe drums. I really despise them, but upgrading a 2WD to the better axle and better brakes is more expensive than upgrading a 4WD.

If you keep the leading/trailing shoe brakes, be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that the park brake works properly, and that you USE IT FREQUENTLY.

Yeah sorry about that, its a 5.0 with the 4L60e.
I use the parking brake everyday in my driveway.
Want to get everything I need before tearing it apart.
I don't have an issue doing the work, I did it professionally for many years.
Just need to make sure I bring home all the tools I need from the shop!

Well, I ordered everything to do the rear brakes. Ordered AC Delco on everything. Stuff came in and most of it is made in China!
Luckily when I did pull the drums, the shoes had pleanty of meat left. So I scuffed up the soes and drums, washed everything and put it back together.
Truck only has 79,000 miles on it.

Common. A guy has to go out-of-his-way to buy parts made in a reputable country; and sometimes there's just no option for that.

Lucky. But someday you're gonna have to replace the brake parts. Are you going to keep the Chinese parts you already have?

IDK
Right now they are sitting on the garage floor.
Just not happy that a brand name would source from China.
