It’s doable but as mentioned above go with diff from a gmt800 and knuckles for bigger brakes. Here’s some pics of mine when I did it. Got the rear aam 11.5 and 9.25 front diff from gmt800 and I already had a bad lift so called bds and got some knuckles from them and bam. 1500 to 2500. 6 lug to 8 lug swap. Still need to build a sway bar

Got more pics if anyone’s interested. Wasn’t bad swap and diff uses same plug from gmt400 to the 800 9.25 diff. Will need a gm reamer tool tho for knuckles. The gmt400 ball joints are bigger then then 800’s so 1 ton gm reamer on the knuckles and you’re good to go.
