I have an 89, and want to keep the 4 light look, but would love a whiter, brighter headlight (i love the cool white headlight/yellow fog look)

the factory housings are sealed and you cannot replace the bulbs with a cooler one, but i found this with a quick google search.

they say direct swap, with no mods, anyone used something like this?

Those are 9003 bulbs. They are single housing high/ low beam bulbs. Your going to have modify wiring. And probably get pulled over for having 4 headlights on all the time. That's not direct fit going by the parts included.

I would avoid drop-in LED replacement bulbs in housings designed for halogens, which is exactly what that listing is advertising. Also either the listing is wrong or those won't fit, as the H4701/H4703 quad headlights in these trucks are smaller than 4"x6".

If you really want LEDs with quads, IMO this is probably the best option. These Genssi housings are the only replacements I'm aware of that are designed to be LED from the start and will fit the H4701/H4703 headlight openings.

As you can see in the listing though, even those are not a direct fit. You still have to cut part of the housings off and modify wiring. As @GoToGuy pointed out, questionable legality as well if that's something you're concerned about.

in texas you can have up to 4 lights at a time. i already have the 4 hi mod, and as long as the fogs turn off with the hi beams then i am good.

the fit, finish, and light output is another story, i will continue research. $130 is a little too much for "lets see what happens"

they dont have to be LED, but that seems to be the most common offering.

Why would anyone get pulled over for having 4 headlights on? Some vehicles do that from the factory. It's also never been mentioned, that I've seen, when discussing the 4-hi mod that so many people seem to like.

Read the statement. I said probably, ie. maybe, possibly, not " you will be cited". The " four hi mod " is to have all four headlights on when switching to hi beam, versus " hi with low off " in stock form.
I don't understand a lot of what law enforcement does, and I'm not going to give them a flimsy excuse for fishing expedition.
Do what you want, I can't control you , all I can do is give you information you may not know or an a different angle to consider.
