Ok, that what I was thinking too, that it is the switch.
Have you ever heard of that Rostra brand? Think I’ll give them a shot.

I think I've seen it listed on RA before, but that's it.

I've never had our GMT-400 switches out of the truck, so I don't know how they go together. I did take my Saturn switches apart, Though. I did build a "good" unit from two broken ones. You might be able to fix your existing switch if you're patient/adventurous. I'll admit, my Saturn rebuild only lasted about 6 months before it pooped out again. It could have been an issue of too much power going though it, and burning it out. I didn't really have options, as aftermarket wasn't available.

The Cherry logo is interesting. I've heard that name before. They used to make some good mechanical computer keyboards, although I never owned one.

The original switch does have Cherry on it.
