Is there a way or view to determine what engine is in a vehicle? I know this sounds dumb but here is what I have, 1998 Suburban 2500, 4X4, 8 lug wheels, supposed to be a 7.4 engine, how do I tell if it is that or some other size engine, any visual clues or pictures of a 5.7 vs a 7.4 or other.

Yes, they are all very different from one another. Center valve cover bolts are small block, big valve covers with side bolts are big blocks. Others would be quite odd. Post pictures and we will all chime in.
