Oil dipstick o ring?

Just pulled my old dipstick, there doesnt appear to be any kind or seal on it. Should there be an oring?

The part that goes into the block is a lot longer than i thought it would be, maybe it doesnt need a seal?

Maybe some rtv?

That's what I do, clean it to get all the oil and debris off, slather some RTV of your choice, and stab it!
