Unless you're performing a frame-off restoration, I don't see the point of splicing the frame to convert it to a short bed. Even then, it makes far more sense to purchase a donor frame or start with a factory short bed truck. If you can't afford to do things the right way, don't do them at all. There are too many hacks in the automotive scene . . .

Search for 2" drop hangers for obs 88-98. Middle bracket is for parking brake cable and can be used
