wanting to buy a quality 700r4

Sounds good man, you're welcome...700R4s can be built to handle 425 HP no problem. So if the builder knows what he's doing, he will make it work for you...Main areas that need to be beefed up are: - Valve body (TV valve, sleeve and plunger - Sonnax and Transgo both make parts for this plus DYI...

Trans swap options after 411 swap

Others can weigh in on the tuning side as I'm largely ignorant when it comes to what PCM will work with what engine/trans combo when it comes to years/interchange...That said, the transmission control logic didn't change too much (and not materially) from 1996 to E2006...There were subtle tweaks...

Trans swap options after 411 swap

If it's two-piece, its a 98-2000 gen 1 sbc unit, which is fine for your 96 (in fact, its preferrsble as it has bonded steel/rubber pistons in the forward drum which 82-96 did not. You can install any 1996-2000 model year unit; any two piece case must be set up for a gen1 sbc. 4L60Es that went...

wanting to buy a quality 700r4

Monster - Hell No! Call around to local builders well versed in the 700R4. I set up 700R4s with your usage profile and engine power all the time, it's not difficult. See if the shop will use the parts you bought so you dont have to resell them. Check out my 700R4 information thread for details...

    Turbo 350 transmission in 1991

Why do you want to put a TH350 in a 91 gmc truck?

    no brake lights

Check brake light switch, applicable fuses and/or wiring. Also, if it's a 95, a 4L60E is installed. 4L60=700R4 under the pre-1990 naming convention.

    P1870, 4L60E, PWM delete etc.

AC Delco, Borg Warner or Rostra. AC Delco for the shift solenoids and pressure switch manifold Borg Warner for the electronic pressure control solenoid (sometimes listed as a "force motor") Rostra for the wiring harness, 3-2 control solenoid and PWM solenoid. In addition to the online...

    P1870, 4L60E, PWM delete etc.

Id replace them, if you can swing it...they are an 80-100k maintenance item so if they've never been replaced, now would be the time to do so.

    P1870, 4L60E, PWM delete etc.

You're welcome, J. I'd install the transgo shift kit...It's not difficult at all plus Transgo's instructions (at least for that kit) are very easy to follow, clear and give you all the guidance you need when doing the work. The shift kit will correct more than just a potentially leaky TCC...

    P1870, 4L60E, PWM delete etc.

There's a guy on Youtube that shows you how to remove the retainer clip and extract that valve without dropping the valve body; you can search 4L60E TCC PWM Valve Body Removal Not Necessary or some variation thereof...The Fitzall valve is designed to do two things: 1) mechanically convert the...

4L60e sounds like a noisy powerglide, but only in gear.

Noise as described can be worn pinion gears/needle bearings in the front and/or rear planetary carrier assemblies. I'd just take it out and back to him once you/he have had a chance to line it up. If it's under warranty, the only questions he should be asking you are to provide details of the...

    700r4 trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd

Was that pic of it on the tow truck taken today? How many miles on the transmission? Agree with Tayto, band could be slipping. Check servo inboard travel, shouldnt be more than .125. If the band is worn, it will slip in 2nd but 4th may be normal as both apply pistons are holding whereas in...

4L60/700R4 Slams Into Gear, Delayed 1-2 Shift

    Slipping trans after rebuild.

Replace that piston. Otherwise forward clutch will burn up quick, if it even applies at all.

1988 K2500 5.7 NP241C remove and replace transfer case with engine and transmission installed?

You don't have to jack up the transmission, but if you plan on removing the X member, it's a good idea for stability...If the transfer case bolts are readily accessible without the trans x member in the way, such that it can be left alone then a trans jack isn't needed (obviously). I'm always...

1988 K2500 5.7 NP241C remove and replace transfer case with engine and transmission installed?

Yep. Stick a trans jack underneath the transmission so you dont stress the motor mounts once the rear trans x member is out of the way. then r/r the tcase.

You shouldnt have to do anything with the torsion bars or the TB x-member.

Replace the vehicle speed sensor, assuming nothings wrong with the sensor harness and its not simply unplugged for some reason.

    454/ 4L80 install question

I use the same technique as i described above when a t case is attached but i will strap a small moving dolly to the bottom of the t case so if it makes contact with the ground, it just rolls. Ill use two ratchet straps. This only applies to aluminum t cases. Cast iron cases, id just install...

    454/ 4L80 install question

Take the front end completely off so you have unobstructed access to the engine bay. Then install the engine/trans via your engine crane - use a ratchet strap connected to the transmission's extension housing and front/top of the crane to help level/stablize the load.

    1994 4l60e doesn’t like to grab 3rd

The price depends on exactly what they will be doing to the unit; see if you can find out what parts will be replaced and procedures completed. But it sounds a bit low for a proper/complete overhaul...My 4L60Es start at $1850.00 for the early-mid 90s units and go up from there but I replace the...

    1994 4l60e doesn’t like to grab 3rd

Time to yank it out for overhaul...If it's still not wanting to shift into 3rd and is basically neutral upon a manual 2-3 upshift, that 3-4 clutch pack is done.
