I have a RWD 1988 single cab long bed. I hate the hub on the front rotor style set up. I was looking to find a hub wheel bearing style knuckle to swap it. Has anyone ever done that? If so what parts do I need? I have 5x5 bolt pattern.

Gonna be a lot of work just to replace serviceable bearings with a disposable hub. You'd need to find a knuckle that would fit, a 5x5 bolt pattern wheel bearing (think: Jeep Wrangler) that will fit that knuckle, a rotor that would be correct, a caliper that will work with the rotor and knuckle.............

If you can find some stuff that will fit, it might be a good upgrade path for brakes, but other than that, what's the hate for?

CPP has a knuckle that accepts a re-drilled C5/C6 unitized hub bearing that has been "coming soon" for about a year. You might call them and ask what's up.

I have the equivalent of that knuckle from CPP for a MustangII suspension and it works well. It's set up for C5/C6 brakes as well, which are cheap and work.

What about GMT800 stuff? Was that a separate hub and rotor and easy to adapt? Seems to work on the 4wd stuff to get the better brakes.

I just don’t like the look. Can’t use certain rims!

Understandable. I've run into a few 5x5 pattern wheels that had interference problems with that hub protrusion.

Looks like time to do some homework. You could certainly try comparing a 2WD GMT800 knuckle to a GMT400, and see if the bolt pattern/size for the hub bearing would allow you to run that Jeep hub since it's 5x5 as well. That's the only application I could think of off the top of my head that uses that style hub but is 5x5. There may be others; dunno.
