I’m gonna revive this thread by also mentioning that the s10/sonoma had the PL turn on for like a second when unlocked by keyless. This was completely factory and the trucks had an alarm on them.
Can't remember if my dad's 96 had this feature but my 98 does. Even honks the horn when you hit the remote lock button more than once lol

My 98 stock keyless blinks the park lights when locked or unlocked. Domes come on even if I have the override on. But they light up for a minute. If I lock and press it twice it honks and the domes come on a second

If you dont have this and want to add it, you can always install an alarm system. My Viper alarm locks and unlocks the doors flashing the running lights, beeping the alarm once, and turns on the dome light when unlocking the doors. When you set the alarm, it beeps twice and does everything mentioned above, when using the provided key fob.

All my interior lights come on for say 4 or 5 seconds when I lock, and probably like 30 seconds when I unlock. I'd love my park lights to blink when I lock

Yeah I wish I knew more about my system.. its stock keyless entry but when I dad bought it in 97 he also paid the dealer to install alarm. But to my understanding it was a 3rd party. Idk if anybody from houston also got this and knows more... my mom got a tahoe in 98 and same thing. Same alarm different dealer.

Reviving this thread to give some clarity. I'm wiring something similar. I plan to have my parking lights give a one-time flash when the doors are locked with my fob.
For your application though, I've got an idea of what needs to be done:

First off, I recommend using fused relays, or at least placing a fuse in the new circuit you're creating.
You would need a [either 4 or 5 pin] relay that turns the PL (parking lights) on with the dome light.
To keep these 2 circuits separate when the ignition is ON or started, you need to install a 5 pin relay (this one NEEDS to be a 5 pin relay) to one of the "SWITCHED hot" wires (usually pink colored) under your dash. The "switched hot" wire will act as the exciter for the relay, that shuts the circuit OFF when ignition is switched ON.
Basically, when the "switched on" wire gives voltage to the 5 pin relay as the exciter, the relay switches the completed circuit from the PL hot wire to a dead connection.
That way, whenever the ignition is ON or started, the dome light and parking lamps have nothing to do with each other, and will operate separately until the vehicle is shut off.
I would recommend placing a rocker switch in the dome/PL circuit that will separate the two on command, in case you want to use your dome light when the vehicle is off, without having your PL come on.
I won't give exact wire-to-pin directions for these relays, but if you know how relays work, you'll be fine. If there's demand for me to explain further, then I will.
Otherwise, have a great night!

I would like to have my parking lights flash a couple of times with the keyless lock/unlock. I also love the headlight delay, I believe the Escalades have it.

I briefly thought about how I’d make them flash. I only came up with power or ground coming from the dome light, to a time adjustable flasher module, then to a relay going to the parking lamp circuit. I don’t like the idea of having a switch to bypass it for when I want to use the dome light, but usually when I’m using the dome light my parking lights are already on so it’s not a big deal. Flashing parking lights along with the headlight delay would be slick. Maybe one day.

For mine, I'm good with just a 1-time flash, relay activated through the lock/unlock wires coming from the wireless module. Have some other important things to get running on this truck first. Then, next is the gentex temp/compass mirror.

To me this is outdated technology from a time when smart phones weren’t a thing. Part of me says this, cause even when it was new technology, I never found it useful even then.

To each their own, I find it very useful, and a super easy add-on. Not everyone wants to pull their phone out when they're driving.
But now that you talk about outdated technology, keep in mind this is a 80s/90s truck page, and most guys love these trucks BECAUSE they're outdated and easy to work on due to that.
The entire GMT400 line is "outdated", by those standards...
Sorta funny, because the mirror is from an NBS truck, and only the last couple years of the GMT400's had them.
I appreciate your feedback, nonetheless.
