the only kicker with having 2 kiddos is that my truck is a 2-seater... so taking both the kids anywhere is a no go. as a result i bought a 2014 silverado and have done a TON of mods to it and i had to pretty much park my '89 (there's no way i can sell it)

i recently got insurance on my '89 and plan on having it back on the road hopefully in about a week. my kids are soooooo excited to go for a drive in it becuz they get to sit in the FRONT SEAT... and that's a huge deal when you are 8 and 6! my son has already called shot gun on the first ride - so that's going to be fun - can't wait

i still have plans for more mods to the '89 so i'll keep updating this thread

Very nice.

did you have the arm rests fixed or new ones? In one pic the armrest pad is bowed out at the seam and the other is back flush. Did you just glue it back?

damn dude….that’s one serious kid. you need a meme bubble GIVE ME THE KEYS DAD.

thanks!

for the arm rests - the drivers side was in rough shape and somewhere i found a new one (but i can't remember where i bought it from). i installed it when i redid my interior. i think i found another one when i was at the wreckers (it might be burgundy) - it's in a box somewhere. i figured i'd grab it as backup if i need to replace it again.

my daughter's pic - ha! i know! that one cracked us all up. my wife was laying down under her, holding her up so she could grab the wheel. it's hard to believe she's now 8!! wow!

This was a good read. One of the few that I don’t skim over. That sucks about that wreck. Personally, I liked the rims on it back in 97! I like what you’ve done with your truck and especially the interior. Keep it up and send us more pictures!

time for an update on my '89.
i've had a bunch of stuff i've wanted to do to the truck for a while but lack of time is a killer when you want to work on your truck!

i got some cool new tail lights - i'm really happy with them - i think they look great...

here is a video of the start up animation and the sequential turn signals.... tail light video

then i was able to get my new head lights and turn signals installed. i bought these a year ago and like i said... lack of time!!!

i also added some amber lights in the grille and swapped out my silver bow tie for one that is painted the same colour as my truck

and here is a video of the startup animation for the lights... head light animation

these are the movotor headlights/turn lights. i really like the look. install was easy enough once i 'undid' all the previous mods i had done to get my old lights to work. the fit is suuuuuuper tight, but they do fit. so far my only knock on the lights is you can't aim the headlights with your grille on - so that's kind of a pain (not a huge deal at install since the grille is off, but if you ever want to do adjustments it would be really annoying)

I definitely understand the lack of time lol. We have two small girls (5 & 1) and they take up most of our time. My ‘98 was on the back burner until last fall when I finally was able to get her in for a full restoration. I have a thread in here if you’re interested.

As for your truck, I’m glad to see you still have it and are working on it again. I remember seeing this thread back when you first started it and loved how clean it was. You don’t see many single cab 4x4 step sides anymore. Looking forward to more updates!!

had some time yesterday so i thought i'd use it... chased a few electrical gremlins in the cab and i think i got them figured out (yea!!)

then i decided to have some fun with my overhead console - i separated the two pieces and put a strip of LEDs in between them - i had to add a dimmer becuz it was waaaaaay too bright!
