My dad has a 1995 k1500 with the 350 5 speed and sometimes when its leaning on a hill it wont start and you have to wait or prime it by cycling the key a buch then youll smell fuel and it will usaully start. He took the old tank out and put a new tank from advance i belive in. Same looks inbelive same 14gal or whatever. It seems like it isnt picking fuel up sometimes and just recently did it on pretty flat ground and a decently full tank. Anyone know whats happening?

You're going to get the usual questions. Have you checked fuel pressure, any drivability problems (hesitation, lack of power). When you replaced the fuel tank, did you also replace the fuel pump. Unless it's new, I hope you did, since it's inside the tank, and it would suck to do the entire job a second time. Any noises coming from the fuel tank, that would indicate a possibly failing pump?

My guess is, you need a new fuel pump. But before doing all that, check pressures, replace the fuel filter, and see if the problem goes away.

Doesn't crank, or cranks but won't run?

Judging by context, I'm guessing cranks but won't run.

put a new tank... ...same 14gal or whatever.
Longbed should have 30+ gallon tank. Shortbed is less...24 gallon, maybe? If you're only getting 14 gallons into it, that's suspicious.

As said, verify fuel filter isn't plugged, and check fuel pressure at prime, at idle, and under load.

Alright its a new filter when tank was installed and the tank has a whole new sending unit/pump will check fuel pressure but filter is new aswell but he thought about deleting it and doing a different filter soon i belive, when driving it sometimes does a weird “hesitation” like we can drive lower speeds (usaully 15-35mph?) and it sputters for a quick second then loses all firing as if it shut off for a little less than a second then comes back fine.
