4l60e Hole in case?

'93 Chevy C1500 2wd 4.3l
I found this hole in my case during rebuild. Looks like it was blown thru from fluid bypassing the checkball behind the servo? I looked at several photos of cases and couldn't find any that had that same hole so I ASSumed it was anomalous. I ordered a used case. It arrived today and dammed if it doesn't have the exact same hole. WTF? Is this hole supposed to be there? Not supposed to be there? or does make no difference?

Third accumulator check ball capsule exhaust. Yours looks a little odd to me but could be the camera angle.

The round hole to the right of your red arrow is a lube orifice for the reverse input drum, which sprays oil onto the drum to keep the band's friction surface lubed.
