Getting ready to order the new pan, filter and gasket. I have some stop-slip that will hopefully get it going until I can get a new torque converter installed.

I'm going to be replacing the oil pressure sensor when I do the oil change.

Replaced the gas cap and tightened the hose clamps on the filler neck because I found the driver side rear wheel well to be splattered with fuel hasn't happened again since. The truck will be parked until the fluids are all changed.

New pan and gasket arrived yesterday evening, now just waiting on the sensor and window regulator assembly.

The power window has been an issue for a minute now and it's finally dead so I have that in addition to the preexisting issues.

I'm conflicted on whether or not I want to keep the tow mirrors or if I should swap back to OEM. I'll keep the fish-eye lenses regardless of whatever mirrors I decide because they're handy to have backing in and out of things.

Side note, I'm tempted to get a bunch of 4x8' 3/4" plywood to create a pad to sit the trucks on to work on them

Replaced the radiator cap, thermostat, and sending unit, did an oil change, put about 2 quarts of atf in the transfer case (drained a little more than 1qt out of it) cleaned the connections on the distributor cap, and replaced the oil pressure sensor. the oil looked fine. still can't get 4wd to work but i need to troubleshoot the actuator because everything else looked fine and there was no sparkly or crunchy sounds from the t-case. i can't tell if there was any slack in the transfer case chain when i checked it but there is some very minor play in the front drive shaft so it is a little tired at the very least.

On the plus side, i got my oil pressure and temperature gauges back and i have stopped coolant from flooding out of the radiator cap. the truck still shudders a little bit while idling due to contaminants that need to be flushed out of the torque converter.

I have the pan and gasket ready for the next transmission fluid change that will have stop-slip added to it to smooth things out.

Drained the transmission and replaced the transmission pan and gasket, new pan has a drain plug so now i can remove the pan without splashing myself with oil when the transmission needs a servicing.

I had put maybe 600 to 800-ish miles on the newer fluid and it already looked like movie effects blood as opposed to a translucent reddish pink. there was a very fine metallic tinting to the fluid so it could be good (the contaminants are being flushed from the tranny and torque converter) or bad (the system is on its last legs). I am inclined to assume the latter over the former but i am maintaining a cautious optimism until i have conclusive results.

I replaced the fluid with 5 quarts of synthetic ATF and a bottle of stop-slip.

checked for leaks and tightened any bolts that were loose.

I have a speed sensor on the way so that i can rule out any other possible flaws and because i have no idea how old it is and will be doing the same with the MAP and MAF sensors at a later date.

I will be closely monitoring the truck's driving quality as i move forward because i am trying not to have to yank the converter even though it's probably just prolonging the inevitable.

Changed the speed sensor, one of the tabs snapped from the harness but it still fit snugly. Tried to remove the fuel filter but that is rusted to the line pretty good so I'll have to remove the parts of the line around the filter to actually install a new filter. the fittings close to the tank and near the injectors are in better condition so that SHOULD be simple (for the most part)

I also finally ordered a tonneau cover for the bed and a gen-y hitch, just need to get the new 10k hitch receiver and the truck will be (for the moist part) done with accessories and then I'll move on to finishing the paint, new front and rear bumpers, and the mechanical problems.

I ditched K&N, I'm just going to keep things stock since no one makes GOOD air intakes for the 88-98's anymore (K&N's own kit is garbage anyway so i haven't had a good opinion over there stuff to start with since the truck originally had a K&N cold air intake when i got the truck and it rattled itself loose and stalled the truck while i was driving up a canyon). So I'm done with K&N and Nitto. Volant already discontinued the cold air intake for the 5.0 and 5.7 so that's that.

I'm keeping close tabs on my transmission for now as things are Ok at best but I'm expecting a few more fluid changes before things finally stabilize.

I need an air chisel or a miracle for the front bump stops they're so corroded.

The Class IV Hitch is low in stock but the Amazon says that more are on the way so I'm not going to sweat over not getting it immediately this has been a VERY expensive weekend.

I've found that class IV hitches are very available and very cheap at Pull-A-Part. All it needs is a good coat of paint and nobody will know it's not brand new.

While i do like Pick-And-Pull/Pull-A-Part shops, Neither Phoenix or Tucson has anything useful to me between the two cities there is literally ONE truck and the only thing i could theoretically use are the doors because the truck appears to have been in a rear end collision judging by the photos.

My Gen-Y hitch came in and i gave it a test with my dually, and i have to say it works really well, and with how it works with my dually and travel trailer I should have no issues using it with the Chevy pulling a car trailer on the road once i get the new hitch receiver installed on it.

I have to say the adjustability is great because how it's set up in the picture, the dually had a good amount of rake but the trailer itself was sitting level and i had plenty of room to work with with the safety chains, breakaway cable, and plug. Additionally, having the hitch set up like how it is for the dually, i can just flip the hitch around without changing anything else for the Chevy to tow a U-Haul car trailer or tow dolly.

Granted, I will still use the WDH for long distance towing, but since i had to flush the holding tanks it was a really good test to see how well the Gen-Y holds up, I watched a lot of videos showcasing the hitch being used but it never hurts to see how it fares personally.

Here's a couple of pictures showing the different hitches connected to my travel trailer.

That 2" drop hitch is technically underrated for the trailer, but it did pretty well last time i took the trailer somewhere.

Water pump started leaking, I have an OE replacement coming in along with a new clutch, hoses, and an 11 blade upgraded fan coming in this Thursday. I'm planning on doing the third transmission fluid change once I finish the cooling system. It's going to include a bottle of stop-slip and after this next fluid change I'm going to drive for about 500 miles before the next change which should clean out the transmission (but I'm not holding my breath).
