6.5 diesel

I have a 1995 gmc k2500 with 330 000 km. Starts right up when it's cold or hot and will idle for hours without missing a beat. Lately it has developed what I can describe has running rough at speeds of over 50 km/h. I've swapped out the pmd, no change. Running idle, I've open the drain valve and no stalling and also put a fuel pressure gage which shows between 5-7 at idle. The next logical step in my opinion would be change the injectors but I don't get white, blue or black smoke when I hammer the peddle. Anybody experience the same issue and what was your fix?

As anyone else would say on here, connect a scanner and see what it's telling you.

I don't know a huge amount about diesels(for now), so I can't really give you any ideas.

Mine is the last year for obd1 so scanning won't be much help and also no engine code.

Why do you say that? You can put a scan tool on a 95. I've done it several times on my 95.
Check for air in the fuel. Install a piece of clear fuel line on the return from the injection pump. You might have a few from installing the line but after a few minutes of running it should clear up. If you still have bubbles then you have air getting in the system from somewhere. Also check and make sure your fuel cap is venting properly.

No pressure build up in the tank, just checked after driving to work. I figured since no check engine light that would be an indication that the obd1 hasn't detected an issue. I'll check around and see if I can borrow an obd1 reader. What size line would that be for the return from the injection pump? 1/4 inch?

When dealing with diesel problems, it's pretty much always a fuel problem. I have zero experience with the GM 6.2/6.5, but the concept is the same. Make sure you have fuel pressure and that it's timed correctly.

Your filters need to be in good condition and any water separators need to be functional. Your fuel pickup lines can't be leaky or cracked and sucking air. Your pressure lines need to be bled of any air and tightened down, but not cranked to deformity.

If I remember right yes it is 1/4 in. When I did mine I just got line for a small engine. You can choose to leave it on or after you get your problem fixed you can take it off and put the original back on. I've had my on for 3+ years and havent had a issue with it breaking down and leaking.

Also before dropping the money for injectors at least pop test them. And if you do buy new ones get them from a reputable source. Just like every thing else there's lots of china made nozzles out there that look exactly like the one Bosch ones but leak straight out of the box. German made ones are getting harder to find and are the best. If I remember right next best are the India made ones.

Found some at our local part store. Is it worth also putting a clear line from the ffm to the injector pump? Or is the return line enough?
