I am intrigued by this!
So, In searching for this CD player, I found a couple extremely similar looking ones:
It appears the only differences are the shape and color of the buttons and the lack of a recess along the bezel's edge, so perhaps these could be hacked in for the purposes of experimentation, assuming they are otherwise equivalent to the mythical model featured in the brochure pictured up on the first post?
If I find one that's cheap enough, I might be tempted to give it a try myself.
Also, I don't remember for sure, but I thought I saw an unused connector on the CDM. What would it be for?

Delco Buick Oldsmobile Chevrolet Pontiac early 1990s add on CD PLAYER #16152173 | eBay
this is a used slave unit Delco CD Player used in many early 90's GM cars when CD's first came out, this was parted working fine a long time ago from a 1992 Olds 98, but has not been tested recently I don't have any wiring to connect one of these to a Cassette controller headunit, or any stereo...

Many systems may look similar but are not interchangeable. A: Many factory radios utilize an anti-theft feature by storing the VIN in the radio. Radios that utilize a VIN lock will lock to the first vehicle you install them in, and cannot be moved to another vehicle after installation.
