I'm Awesome
Ok, so the other might I drove home from work. I had a strange smell when I let down the windows. Turns out it was from oil burning on the exhaust. I noticed oil smeared everywhere. But it was particularly in the area of the spark in the front on the driver side. The two spark plug coils wires. Had oil on the outside. However when I pulled the spark plugs. They were clean and dry on the other side. There was no oil in the spark plug holes. Because there was so much oil. I cleaned it this morning with a cloth and brake cleaner. I ran the truck for awhile to see where the oil was coming from. However I couldn't pin point it exactly. The valve cover appeared dry all around the areas I could access easily.. The spark plug holes were dry. But for some reason I had oil all over the area of the first two spark plugs again. The heat shield was soaked in oil. And in one direct spot. I keep getting a stream of oil dripping down on that part of the exhaust. That is right below the second spark plug from the front end of the truck. The sensor and the two coil wires both get soaked in oil in that area. However the back two plug area. Is as dry as a bone. When I look under the truck up through the area where the oil filter sits. There is a smeared area where it appears oil has been flowing down. The oil filter itself, is completely dry. But below you will see oil drops on different parts of the truck. Likely do to being blown everywhere by the wind. I was wondering, should I consider using a dye to trace the oil leak in this truck? And ideas where oil leaks on these trucks that I should consider checking?
