@jjester6000 Did you ever figure out what faults were present in your air bag system?
I had the air bag warning light come on in my '97 Suburban again tonight for the first time in a long while. I cycled the ignition and the warning light was operating properly again, but I remembered what happened here and didn't want to completely ignore it this time. I connected my Tech 2 clone and got no present SIR codes, and only one history code...

B1061: SIR 61
According to the '97 service manual this is an air bag warning lamp circuit fault that's triggered when the commanded state of the lamp doesn't match what the module sees for more than 400 milliseconds. I haven't gone through the diagnostic table completely yet, but given how infrequently this happens I'm wondering if it's something silly like a tired old light bulb in the cluster. Or maybe some other part of the circuit is tired and doesn't like me starting the truck immediately while it's in the middle of the self test that flashes the bulb seven times. I'm going to make it a point to wait a few seconds before starting the engine after turning the key to "Run" to give the warning lamp test some time to complete and see if that makes any difference.
Semi-related thought/question: What is the simplest and safest way to disable the air bags completely if needed? Is it really as easy as pulling fuse number 10 out of the interior fuse box?
