I hate to be the bad news guy but you have two reasonable options.

1. Remove the engine and do a complete rebuild with hot tanking or baking the block.

2. Put it back together as is.

Any attempt to “clean” the engine at this point without a complete tear down will result in a clogged oil filter at BEST.

I’m liking option 2, fits my lazy attitude about working on it. I’ll fix the gaskets and slap it together, at least there won’t be any external leaks anymore! Haha

I remember years ago seeing a ford taxi cab with a v8 opened up. It had a pan under the manifold to close the valley. There was a solid ridge of black gunk running down the middle from the bottom of that pan to the top of the casting over the cam. it got a valve job and nobody touched the wall of crud.
