Hi all,
Have a 1997 2Dr 4X4 Tahoe.
I sometimes use it to haul a 14" trailer with a tractor/brush hog.
Tractor weight is under 2700Lbs. Trailer is dual 3500Lbs axles.
It tows excellent but when it is loaded it squats the back of the Tahoe a bit and sometimes you can feel it wanting to push the back around a little on rough roads. Nothing unsafe but you can just feel the weight back there.
My thought is to have some air bags installed to counter the sag and help with the weight. The Tahoe does have the tow package.
Sometimes it is easier to use the Tahoe and 14' trailer because it is so maneuverable and good on gas compared to my 18 footer and one ton dually!

Anyone done this or have an alternative idea?

Airbags help steady the truck, but really with that kind of weight and such a short wheelbase I'd look at a weight distribution hitch. I've pulled with a WD hitch and no bags, while the airbags did help the truck set level the hitch made the biggest difference.
If you're dead set on bags I don't blame you, but I would highly recommend a good hitch in addition to bags, it's a win win combo imo.
I've got Firestone Ride-Rites on my 96 K2500, and I love them, the truck doesn't porpoise as much as it used to when pulling heavy trailers. I've got a set of Airlift Load Lifter 5000s to install on my 2000 K3500 as well.

I need to see how much weight is on the hitch itself. I don't think it is all that much. I do carry tools, fuel, oil etc. in the back of the Tahoe, not to mention full tank of gas, so there is already a bit of weight there.
The trailer when loaded squats it a little, enough to get people to flash their lights sometimes!

One potential concern with the WDH is losing some of the turn radius I have. I use the Tahoe/14' trailer at times for its superior maneuverability.
I can drive/back into places where my 1-ton just won't go!
