Moved close enough to Bellingham to get Boundary Bay Scotch Ale available in grocery stores, most excellent.
That Liquid Death flavored sparkling water is pretty good. We did a sampling the other day on it at work, and I really like the lime one.
Scotch Ale sounds interesting....

Somewhere in this thread, I believe I previously claimed Jamaican Red Stripe as my favorite. It's not so widely available around here, so I don't get it often. A few weeks/monthes ago I bought a six pack and found it to be just ho-hum. I've more recently been drinking Corona with lime added, or maybe Ice House (also with lime), or a Bells. However, I've made the executive decision to cut back quite a bit, as I keep hearing in health podcasts/videos that it's really not good for a person in the long run. I'm trying to eat/drink better, but habits and way are hard to change. I've been drinking more water, while at work, instead of pop/soda, but even that's harder to do at home. I've started buying a pop called Zevia which has no sugar and is sweetened with stevia which is a plant. Also, I've been getting the smaller bottles or cans, if I'm getting a mainstream pop, so I'm at least not getting as much.

A single barrel, like Jim Beam used to be, is my preferred but then you get in to Devil's Cut and that is blended.

I quit drinking about 1.5 years ago. I feel better and weight stays off. I became a drinker in 1972 when I went in the service. The service teaches you to be a drinker. I drank for 50+ years and could really put it away. Beer or bourbon, did not matter. I have 2 coffee's in the morning and a couple more during the day and if wrenching, lots of water. I like 7 UP. I also like Black Rifle coffee with caramel flavor. Biggest benefit, is no more hangovers.

We have a lot of the new sodas at Costco, and I've sampled several. Zevia was good, there are some others I really liked. Can't remember the brand, but there's one that has a Coke/RC style, a Dr Pepper style and a root beer. The Dr Pepper was spot on, even moreso than Dr Pepper zero sugar to the regular flavor. Root beer was great, just a little bit of twang, and the cola was good too. Stevia comes from monkfruit IIRC, and it's being used as a natural sweetener in many things now. The club I work in is in a prosperous area of Houston, so we have many "premium" items; many of the members work in the Medical Center too.

Is it gonna be real whiskey or some of that blended crap I have seen Wa. people drink? It isn't any better here in Or. though. They wouldn't know the difference between whiskey and blended if it bit 'em in the ass.
I like to keep both on hand and serve the blended first. Some of my guests think whiskey is for shooting.

I haven't tried it, and I typically don't like sparkling water. I figure if it's bad I'll just add vodka until it's good.

The Scotch Ale always takes me back to the local Highland Games where I met my wife and they were serving it there.

Somebody taught you wrong. NCO Academy was a course in functional alcoholism. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate while you're drinking to avoid hangovers.

An American Legion friend of mine, that I used to drink with, has a full glass of water with him when he is drinking.

I have stopped and will stay stopped. Can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Zevia has two root beers, regular, and a Ginger Root Beer. I really like the Ginger. I've also tried Black Cherry, and I should have known better.... it's horrid. I like cherries, but in general, I don't like cherry flavored things.

Stevia is just from Stevia. It's a leafy plant. I don't know what the actual chemical is that is the sweet part, but the dried leaves can be purchased as a tea, and it basically makes "sugar water" that tastes kinda off. I tried growing it once, but it didn't work.

Okay thanks, good to know! There are so many alternative sweeteners out there, it's hard to keep track. I have diabetics in my immediate family, so I try to get things we can all eat and drink, that will be healthy and still taste good.
