I think I understand this - when you say at the limit, is it because making it more rigid will tend to cause the "inside" tire to lift at that point?

No, not alluding to cross talk. It's just the simple fact that if you add spring or bar to one end of the vehicle, grip is reduced at that end relative to the other. So say if his truck understeers like a dump truck, adding a bar out back will make it less bad.

Thanks but I think I'm more confused now, lol.. my understanding of chassis engineering is pretty basic to say the least so I guess reading some books on it would give me a better idea.

No more dump truck cornering would be nice. It honestly is much better than before. I’ve enjoyed testing it a bit.

Sway bars are kind of a kludge to fine tune spring rates, shock rates and balance. We installed a rear sway bar on our truck and it wasn't stiff enough to induce any extra oversteer. I didn't do tests on the skid pad, but that's my opinion from driving it. I thought it rode a lot better with it though, less boaty.

You can get changes in camber and toe from suspension movement, so I wouldn't say it's always true that adding a bar reduces grip. I'm not a suspension designer though.

Not that anyone cares, but my default setup for sim racing with adjustable bars is full soft on the front and middle-ish on the back.

I wanted to get a sim racing setup in ‘21/‘22 but never pulled the trigger. It looks like a lot of fun.
You can put too stiff of a bar in the rear, which will make it tail-happy. I put a Suburban bar on WCJr and it works very nicely at reducing body roll. The Suburban bars aren't too aggressive.
I’ve got a Belltech one going on. The suburbans at the wrecking yard are always sitting on the ground so it’s hard to score a bar.
You could also wait for your dually rear. Just a thought.
You have a bed you’d part ways with too?:p

It's a little of everything. Sometimes it's fun. Sometimes you wish it was real life so you could punch someone in the face.

Well, no real progress made tonight. I tore everything apart and shuffled the rear end around and actually managed to get the axle further back by about 1/2” inch or so. So I feel better about that. I wasn’t going to just accept it without trying to see if I could get it better. Glad I did. I am really itching to drive this thing now. The rear of the frame sits right below my knees. It’s gonna be so nice.
You can drill a new hole in the spring perch to move the axle fprward or backward but then you gotta do a driveshaft mod.
