Nice writeup and concrete reference?

Are these LEDs dimmable?

Another question: I'm familiar with the blue tinted backing of the factory instrument cluster; keeping this in mind, is there any way one could replicate the nice green color as found in some Saabs? (see pic below)

I replaced all the incandescent with leds in my 96. Other that needing to reverse polarity on some I remember reading that the anti-lock bulb will stay lit after witching to led in that position. Another question what does SIL mean on the back of the cluster? Almost of the the lettering on the individual sockets are easy to decipher.

I know of SIR but not SIL... What position is it in? SIR is airbag, "Supplemental Inflatable Restraint".

Not sure where you see this on the board, but on a PCB board it's a single in-line (SIL) socket. The sockets contain in-line connecting pins for through hole mounting - used to hold various components (resistors, chips etc.).

You are correct. I was messing with the cluster again and realized I had typed it wrong. My C3500 is not equipped with airbags. What is SES? Probably not on my 96 either.
