Idle RPM goes up and down.

My timing is set at 35. Specs say between 34 and 36. So today I ran the intake vacuum to the distributor timing advance, it was originally set from the carb block. This made a huge difference, idling much better and driving under throttle seems slightly stronger now as well. After I switched it...

Idle RPM goes up and down.

I know I’m already lacking in vacuum and the brakes run off my power steering but the only vacuum line to the carburetor is from my pcv on the valve cover. I was going to add a primary from the intake manifold today and see what changes I get. Could this be my issue? When I’m on the accelerator...

Idle RPM goes up and down.

Hello, the engine was fully built and installed when I bought it. I just had to finish the accessories and miscellaneous parts on the truck. I do have all the paperwork though. The cam is 224/236@050 .554/.554. Carburetor is a Quick fuel technology. MSD ignition.

Idle RPM goes up and down.

Hello, I have a 383 Stroker, Carburetor and MSD ignition that runs strong. I’m getting a variation in idle speed though. I’ll dial in the idle speed and then it will start to drop for some reason. Main vacuum at this point is from my PCV, I’m going to add another vacuum line to my carburetor...

    AC cycling Switch

Also my fans are always on, I have 2 electric fans. Also all the PCM’s are removed from this truck. It’s basically like a 1969 Chevy. I have a 383 carbureted engine run by a MSD ignition and a small drive system for the cab that runs my instrumentation.

    AC cycling Switch

Hello, well I got the AC blowing ice cold and working but have 2 issues. First I pretty much know how to fix and figure out, the fan blows mostly through the defrost vent. I’m getting about 30% through the cab vents but the cab is still cold. Second issue is I did have to install a solenoid to...

I went with Good Year RSA 265/60R17. Zero rub. Could have maybe went to 265/65 but I’m happy with the change.

    AC cycling Switch

How would I do that? Trinary switch? I was wondering if my fans will turn on when the compressor turns on too. I have 2 electric fans.

    AC cycling Switch

I’m guessing it’s wired close to what AK49 was explaining to me, hopefully anyway. Looks like wires go from the controls to the fuse box.

    AC cycling Switch

Idle kick? I’ve never seen that with a carburetor. I do still have the original fuse box under the hood but that’s about all that’s left but most of the fuses in it have been removed. I have a system under my dash that controls most accessories but had nothing for AC. I pulled it out tonight to...

    AC cycling Switch

Thank you. Just to double check because the lines are just hanging right now. I connect to the sensors on the manifold above the compressor from the accumulator? I don’t have to connect to the other high pressure sensor on the back of the actual compressor? Sorry AC is out of my wheelhouse.

    AC cycling Switch

The Accumulator, clutch and high pressure sensor on the compressor are all wired in already.

    AC cycling Switch

Can I wire the cycle switch with the same wires from the high pressure wires in the back of the compressor?

    AC cycling Switch

My truck is a 1996 with a 383 engine swap carburetor engine. I’ve owned it for a month now. Purchased knowing the AC doesn’t work but is all there. All the computers have been removed from my truck. All my instruments work. Seems to have been done right but I don’t have a lot of history on the...

    Tire Size Suggestions: 20x8, C2500

I’m looking at tires also. Mine current set up is 255/40r17 up front and 275/40r17 back and they are way too small. Rims are 17x9 4.5 back space. I believe the truck is lowers 2/4. Any ideas to improve this look? Was thinking 255/60’s?

    383SB or 400SB retro into a L31 1998 Suburban

I have a 383 Stroker. Brand new block. Great power. All forged internals. Has a total of 3k miles now on the build. I love this motor in my 1996 Silverado, truck looks stock until I start it up.

    Ride height question

Looking at the pics I noticed the drop spindle is hitting the lower tab on the control arm. Not sure what that piece is for but can I grind the drop spindle or trim that tab some on the lower control arm. I can see it’s bumping it when the wheel is turned. Or is that supposed to be there to stop...

    Ride height question

I think they are 17x10 Mickey Thompson. Not sure of the offset. I’ve been trying to take several measurements but I’m not sure how it will end up. Maybe a 265/55r17? I think that puts me at 28.5 inches Edit. They may actually be 17x9, I’m trying to get a measurement. Maybe 4 inch backspace.

    Ride height question

Not really. Not my favorite wheels but they are in great shape and was trying to save some money by not having to buy rims too. I think these look better in a 4wd. They are MT and polish up like new.
