I got the driver spring in! Spent another 30 minutes this morning with zip ties and vice grips and finally got it in place. I found it works best to clamp down on the spring then run 2 zip ties on one side only of the spring, both ties basically on top of easy other so the spring is almost C shaped. Then slide it into place and hammer it the rest of the way in, and cut the ties.

Also got the door strikers in, I didn’t realize it was so easy to pull the extended cab door pocket things out to get to the striker nut plate. The doors shut great now although it does take a but of extra effort to close them, probably need to lube the strikers.

These work and will put a whammy on the local population

Still have to listen to those bastages flapping their wings trying to get away? Or does it lock every bit of them down?

I don't hear much buzzing. I take the cap off every now and again to hose my head down or whatever and always take a moment to enjoy watching them struggle their precious little hearts out. It's actually amazing how fast the local population takes a nose dive, or learn to avoid me altogether. I'm in an old cabin deep in the woods... InsectShield clothing (permethrin) for chiggers and ticks, clear wraparound safety glasses (stihl) for gnats, and these deer fly stickies have allowed for much more prosperous enjoyable summers than at any point in my life. Muy bueno.

Whoa this is neat! Are they really that good? Could I instead just out a few strips around my driveway on random things near where I stand?

I bought some sticky gel goo the other day and painted a blue Maxwell house can with it because I read they like light blue. It’s caught a dozen or so but a dozen dead doesn’t even put a dent in them.

Finished nearly all the things I can on this truck for the time being except something for the driver side and extended cab window. Not sure what happened to this window but it looks like all the mounts are missing. Does anyone know where to get new ones?

Here’s my deer fly coffee can goo trap, been working pretty well. Around where I park there’s almost none, walk just down my driveway and they swam.

I replaced one of those mounts eons ago, probably got it off of Rockauto? Used 3M adhesive from Advance Auto to install, been working like a champ. Someone locked themself out and shoved them self through the side window to regain access to their vehicular and snapped an ear off in doing so.

You can buy permethrin and treat your clothes yourself. In the Air Force we actually got issued permethrin to treat our uniforms. It works.
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001ANQVYU/
Sure it does, but the clothing made from permethrin-impregnated cloth lasts for 70 washings which is longer than my outdoor clothes last. I don't have to wait until I'm getting bit again to then treat my entire summer wardrobe over and over again. I just don't have to deal with it at all. My lower legs have changed skin color due to all the deet and permethrin spraying I've done in the past (ruined my inner driver's door panel also from rubbing my outer calf on it. Turned the plastic into a brown bubbly mess).

Plus, my main project this year is less projects. :)
