Tractor fluids

We've got two older tractors (50s-~61 models) that are both up for fluid changes. One specs 80/90wt for transmission and the other 80EP. General consesus I've come up with from perusing online is that a universal tractor trans/hydraulic fluid should be compatible for replacement. What are y'alls thoughts on making the switch and its pros/cons?

Thanks. I'm familiar with the site and actually have the operators, service, and parts manuals for one of them but it was written 64 years ago.

80w90 gear lube is roughly double the price of the UTF fluid which makes me wonder.
