Put in new engine and now won’t start with key

i just put a new engine in my 99 classic and now it won’t start with the key hooked up a push button to starter and it will start great

Did your starter have 2 small studs on it. If so did you put the small(starter signal wire) wire on the wrong stud perhaps? And do you have all the grounds to the motor hooked up?
