idle question?

What is a 93 4.3 supposed to idle at?

I would say when the engine is warm about 700-800 rpm.

Well I'm at 300-400 rpms what could that be caused from?

Is it still a smooth idle or is it running a little rough as well

A little rough. If I give it enough gas to go to 700 rpms it runs super smooth.

Probably a bad IAC or idle air control, it's the large cylinder shaped item right behind the TPS, you can unscrew it and look at the pintle on the end, and see if it has a worn spot in it, also spray some carb cleaner in the passage where it screws in it's probably full of carbon, I would suggest swapping it out for another and trying it, I keep 3 or 4 of them in my tool box, just in case someone needs one, also if you have access to a obd1 live data scanner I would check and see what rpm the computer is requesting from the engine and make sure you don't have any problem's there. I hope it's an easy fix.

Will give the iac valve a look over but no access to an obd1 scanner that sure would be nice
