I'm changing the body mounts on my 97 Chevy c1500 ext cab. I started with the passenger side did those 4 then went to the driver's side. After replacing all the mounts with energy suspension poly mounts I can't get the bolt to grab the threads on the back location closet to the bed. Also I noticed the driver's side have this extra piece of metal that the passenger side doesn't have. It's only on the farthest back location and the front body location not the (rad support) has anyone had this issue? And I was wondering should I just remove those pieces or go buy a longer bolt. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
But the middle location on the driver's side doesnt have the extra piece. Also no extra pieces on the passenger side.

I’d leave the shim alone and source a longer bolt. Possible that the longer one that’s supposed to go there ended up in a different body mount.
