i have a 98 k1500 5.7l with 4l60e. when taking off from a stop after vehicle is warmed up. vehicle jerks and you can hear what sounds like gears grinding. when that happens truck acts as if it is not engaged in any gear then slams in gear and drives fine.

trans shifts perfect and haven’t really used 4wd as truck is lifted and removed cv axles.

if it matters truck has 6” rc lift with 24” aftermarket wheels.

i can get a spare trans and t-case but wanted info before pulling.

i can shift it to all gears and they engage as should, haven’t used the 4wd much so when i shift it in gears i do it with the truck off. only reason is because when i first got it i tried and it grinded when trying to shift. dont know proper way to put in 4wd as in what gear to put it in when changing.

i’m a tech at ford so im used to ford and their shift on the fly t-cases lol.

Is it manual transfer case shift(floor) or electronic(dashboard)?
