94 sierra c1500 5.7 wiper motor arms

hello all. i recently replaced my windshield wiper motor. i put the new one in, i am having a very difficult time getting the arms to line up with the pivot point on the backside of the motor. i have them in the right order but for some reason, they just won't move. i greased it with some white lithium. the drivers side budges just a tiny bit but then won't go back/any further upwards. motor is working just fine i can hear it, i also can't seem to put on the actual wiper on the passenger side onto fluted shaft. the notch where the tab on the arm is is pointing downwards towards the hood so i can't line it up. any advice?
