I figured out what the noise is, it's the exhaust flange hitting the heat shield on the side of the transmission. It's going to require minor surgery to correct it, so we're just going to live with it for now. I measured all the driveline angles again and for whatever reason the pinion is now...

    1967 Dodge D100

Welp, poor old Dodgey has been sitting since my last post. Found out a while ago that the battery is completely dead. Apparently, my switch panel still draws power even after pressing the kill button. I should have realized that. So, I installed this battery disconnect switch in the most ghetto...

    3/4 Ton of fun - ‘95 Sierra

It's a little of everything. Sometimes it's fun. Sometimes you wish it was real life so you could punch someone in the face.

Sway bars are kind of a kludge to fine tune spring rates, shock rates and balance. We installed a rear sway bar on our truck and it wasn't stiff enough to induce any extra oversteer. I didn't do tests on the skid pad, but that's my opinion from driving it. I thought it rode a lot better with it...

Front Engine Plate and Mid Plate???

It wouldn't surprise me if Motion or ICT makes a front plate for these trucks. They have them for a number of vehicles.

Did it make a noise, or you just added BAM as an exclamation?

Here's some blurbs from the C8 service manual (I don't have a copy, this was from the C8 forum): "The conditions listed below determine when cylinder deactivation is enabled. Engine has been running for greater than 30s Engine speed is between 700 and 2800rpm Engine oil pressure is between...

I think there's a lot more to the DoD than figuring out how to make it run on 4 cylinders. I believe there is a reason why GM's algorithm works the way it does, and that a human has no chance of duplicating it over the long term. Even if you have all the data and understand when 4 is ok and when...

What do the plugs look like? Maybe get a wideband O2 sensor and log some data.

How were the o rings? I was smoke testing my 5.3 with the old injectors and I got smoke coming out around some of them. That can throw off the AFR because we don't use 8 O2 sensors.

1 step forward, 2 steps back. The tire rubbing is 99.9% gone. I can still get it to lightly rub on the bump in my driveway, but it's a lot less than before. I think skinny tires on wheels with more negative offset will be fine. The driveline shimmy is back when the speedo gets over 65 mph...

Agreed, but on a stock NA motor, probably good enough.

If you are up for some hackery, you can clean them with a can of carb cleaner and a 9v battery.

    Cylinder Compression

Get a sparkplug-air chuck adapter and see if you can find out where the air is escaping. Maybe do a leak down. Did you oil the cylinders?

Are you sure they need to be rebuilt? On one of my LS swaps, I had a local motorcycle shop clean and flow them for something like $15 per injector. Put new o-rings on them myself. Granted, that was a while ago.

It has some outputs that can be defined to whatever you want. One of those things is a VSS signal. You can only do this on the "Max" version that has transmission control built into it. Once I get around to attempting it, I will follow up with the details (assuming I get it to work).

I was looking over my pinouts last night from when I did the 0411 and only 2 things come from the PCM, speed and rpm. From what I have read the term-x max can output a VSS signal. I think it will work. If not, the 3.5" display has the missing data on it. Good enough for now.

RE: An update to my V6 to V8 swap.

6500 rpm? That seems high. I thought the redline was ~5800. Mine feels like it falls off a cliff at 5000.

It's a 96. The speedometer and tachometer are from the PCM. I believe I can output the signals needed from the term-x. If not, I'll tape the 3.5" display to the gauge cluster. :)

My grandmother had a diesel olds. I remember riding in the backseat and she'd have it floored constantly. Austin has a couple serious hills and I remember it would just slow down going up hills and never accelerate or even maintain speed. It was actually dangerous. You'd be going 20-25 and...
