Yep, I saw that pdf and saved it so it helps. I just want other eyes on it so I'm confident enough to button it up. Hopefully doesn't take too long to shim up and have the pattern good.

I'm at the "gear pattern" stage. Honed out other bearings so I can just take pinion in and out for it. Then will press good bearing in after.

So I got as far as putting new races in housing for pinion and pressing on new bearings on carrier, as well as bolting the new ring gear on carrier. This is taking way longer than I wanted, just to think I assumed I was gonna throw a rear end under my truck.

Ok thank you, I think I'm just going to swap the housings if thats the case and are interchangeable.

So on a different note, I yanked the front diff from the same truck. I noticed that the side housing where the 4wd actuator is is different, meaning mine has 2 wires, one I took out has 6 wire connector. Can my housing fit onto the one I took out?

That is very true. That reminds me, if any of you had experience with lockers, are they pretty dependable? I have 6 inch lift and 35s so it would definitely be nice.

Thank you for the information, its appreciated. After putting the axles back in with seals and it bolted together, I ripped it all apart again. Got as far as taking the carrier out.

Yea its a semi float so its a basic setup, even as it sits is an upgrade from the 10 bolt that popped on my truck. I know doing the ring and pinion is the right thing to do. Might sacrifice time and money and do it, especially because it has the locker that I'm grateful for finding. I've...

I kind of figured. Really didn't want to end up doing a complete build, just a freshening up. How it is now would it hurt to run it? I'm good with changing the fluid every so often if it would help it.

So I cleaned up the inside. Pic is from few days ago I took axles out cleaned them, put new seals in then put axles in. Also cleaned out in the tube and whatever brown gear oil/water was in. Bearings look fine, locker works fine. Still gotta do all new brakes/hardware/drums. So the ring gear...

I'm going thru it because it was from local boneyard. I loosened all the bolts before busting butt yanking it out, but never looked inside it. It felt good turning the yoke and wheels that I didn't bother, also doner truck having 102,000 miles, I ripped the front diff out too (to match ratios.)...
