    Leaf Springs or What?

I had the front aligned last year because I replaced a lot of worn parts. Pitman and idler arms and everything else. Which makes me believe it’s the rear visible issue making me having to correct the wheel going down the road. Also the shops around here, not so smart lol.

    Leaf Springs or What?

Hi everyone. So during the past 4.5 years of owning my truck, I’ve replaced everything front to back mechanically. BUT, I bought it with a 6 inch lift already installed. Everything else was a disaster. My most recent experience was replacing/rebuilding my 10 bolt rear end to a 14 bolt with...

    What is this bolt?

Update, so about the disengagement of the front diff. Looks like previous owner cut 2 wires toward the tcase switch, I never realized it until checking wiring. So ended up using dorman harness and doing it right. Now it engages and disengages so front shaft turns freely in 2wd. Glad its taken...

    What is this bolt?

Week update, got 102 miles in. Everything seems ok, only issue i see is with front diff, and I didn't realize it before (not actuator issue.) 4wd works, but front diff doesn't disengage. I kinda noticed it long time ago with my old one. I think when they did electric conversion, seeing as it use...

    What is this bolt?

So after Christmas (today), I did the rear conversion U joint and bled the brakes. Then dropped her down and gently drove it for about 20 minutes under light throttle. Everything seems to be fine. Gonna drive it more to 500 miles under light load then gonna change the oil. Will keep updating.

    What is this bolt?

lol honestly don't remember the rating of the stands but they're really hefty craftsman ones. I used the blocks cuz truck is lifted, also only have the stands extended half out. I got smaller harbor freight ones like 2 ton I think but never use them.

    What is this bolt?

So I got the front diff and rear end all bolted in and full of fluids. Just gotta put the u joint in the rear shaft with new delco straps, and bleed the brakes. E brake cables gave me grief, had to mess with the adjuster which barely helped but the e brake works, all that matters.

    What is this bolt?

Here's where I'm at right now. My truck is southern about to see its first winter, and I got 3 years of fluid film under it. Took me 40 minutes to unbolt everything including the brake lines that were cake. My old 10 bolt is like a baby toy compared to the 14 bolt.

    What is this bolt?

Got my rear end back this morning. Hopefully they did it right. I pulled the cover to check it out, looks/feels legit. Little noise when rotating the yoke, but may be because there's no weight or anything bolted to it. I called them and they said if anythings wrong they'll take care of it when...

    What is this bolt?

I checked and its the 5 pin electric one.

    What is this bolt?

Saves me some work with wiring and splicing. I can return the harness i bought then.

    What is this bolt?

It looks like someone already upgraded the my truck to electric. Never even looked.

    What is this bolt?

For the U Joint, I have an aluminum 1 piece shaft. I read on here 447 or 448 moog, but which one would work with the 14 bolt? Actually I think I figured out I would need the 448. 1.188 cap on yoke, 1.063 on driveshaft. I think.

    What is this bolt?

Ok thank you. If thats the case since its a whole diff and housing from the 98 w/electric actuator, I'll just wire the harness up in there and should be good. My whole truck is basically "lifetime warrantied" as well. I been working at parts store for 12 years and my warranty file is huge...

    What is this bolt?

Do I need the kit tho, because the 98 diff already has the actuator in it.
  16. BigReb95

    What is this bolt?

So I read some posts on here about converting to electric actuator. Basically all I need is dorman 600-600 harness?
  17. BigReb95

    What is this bolt?

I know, it shifts the T case nothing with front diff. Is there a wiring diagram that has info on splicing what I have now to the 98 version?
  18. BigReb95

    What is this bolt?

Ok, thank you again. I would keep the actuator and housing but I have a floor shift, plus I wouldn't know what wires to splice to which.

    What is this bolt?

On a different note, while I'm waiting for the rear end to be put together, I degreased and cleaned the front diff. Everything looks tight and good. Gears all look good, no rust like the rears thank God. So I just want to make sure again. My 95 extension with my 4wd actuator and all will bolt...

    What is this bolt?

I had today off, so I tackled it again. An hour into it I threw everything on the ground and said screw it im done, done with it all. I borrowed my uncles truck and put all the parts and pieces and rear end in the back, then dropped it all off at a Transmission place half hr away from my house...

    What is this bolt?

Backlash was at 12, so not good. I was on a role until I got so close the pinion was hitting the carrier so I took out a shim, then another shim, then adjusted the carrier shims, now I can't get it to stop making noise, like ring gear and pinion noise. I've almost had it with this thing, hours...

    What is this bolt?

    How does this look
  23. BigReb95

    What is this bolt?

I'm going to try again later tonight. I think I gotta put the gauge on it for backlash to see where it should be then work on pattern. I feel that I'm setting too loose, judging from how it was before.

    What is this bolt?

Im calling it quits tonight. Either I'm too tired or I just can't get it right so I'm gonna try again tomorrow.

    What is this bolt?

I feel pinion depth is fine, it seems to be centerish.
