I'm doing the vortec to carb swap 600 cfm 4 barrel carb hei distributor. Who has done this swap and kept the factory controlled trans with factory computer. How did you hook it up
id like to know as well. Seen some run a special trans computer and certain ones be able to rig a few sensor up to control the trans off the rpm signal of the hei distributor and goodies.
MAy be more better to 5.3l ls swap pcm swap , efilive to reprogram . 5.3l with cam can do 400 hp easy a/c bracket intergrating gauges are the biggest issues.
BUt if you dead set on carb may be msd atomic trans controller and normal hei.
Carberatours belong in the trash it's old technology and they suck ****! Fuel injection is better in every way and if you decide to sell the truck people will rather a hopped up fuel injected truck then a carbed truck. Why in the hell would you go from fuel injection to a piece of **** carburator god dam it it's 2017 not 1900s. Do your self and your resale a favor and drop a fuel injected LS drive train in then you will have something to brag about.
Down for the carb swap. I was about to do it myself. Hei distributor. Special intake. Fuel pressure regulator. Holly i believe is the only carb ( maybe qjet ) that have a tps for transmission. I was going to do manual swap at same time so I wouldn't have to worry.
