94' GMC Yukon 4x4.

Just took off my oil filter adapter, the part that has the oil cooler lines and the 90 degree mount for the oil filter. Went to get a new gasket kit for it, and all I can find is the Dorman Help brand kit. The o ring is round instead of flat, and the gasket is a "paper" type, whereas the original one on it was clear plastic, very thin like cellophane. There is a delco brand availible online that appears to have a flat oring, but the gasket is different. None of them have the wierd clear plastic gasket like the original, and only the Dorman kit says its for my truck.

Anyone used this? Its quite different than the original.

Maybe 6yrs ago I got the AC gasket kit from a local Chevy dealer and it had the thin paper / fiber gasket.

I'm of the impression my OE 1998 gasket was paper (I did this job a while ago, so memory is... weak).

I do remember well that I had to improvise a knife, with a right-angle bend, to reach-into the recess and scrape / cut-out the OE gasket, as it did NOT want to be removed.

The paper gasket will work just fine as long as it is the wide gasket.

Thats what the gasket looks like, the o ring is round though

Luckily this going from the old motor to a new one, I just have to clean the adapter

I went through same thing I think. I had an orange flat washer originally.
Went ahead and installed the kit with paper gasket and round o-ring with zero issues so far...that was back in March apparently.... the paper is decent material....
